How the Southern Ocean drives global climate and shapes the future of our planet.

The Southern Ocean circles the globe, unblocked by land. This accident of geography has profound consequences for ocean currents, global climate, and the stability of the Antarctic Ice Sheet. The talk will explore what makes the Southern Ocean unique, how the region helps to slow the pace of climate change, and what a rapidly changing Southern Ocean means for the future of our planet.
