Alan is the History Officer at Clarence City Council and has an eclectic interest in colonial Tasmania, 19th century artists and historic wallpaper. With the help of the Royal Society, Alan will walk us through the artists who have visited Bellerive to paint Hobart, and their connection with Charles Darwin's 1836 visit to Hobart aboard the Beagle. From English watercolourists to Danish painters, not to mention Charles Darwin himself, a fascinating succession of leading figures in arts and science have visited this shoreline.
This event is presented by Beaker Street Festival and Clarence City Council.
This walk will depart from outside Hobartica East's MACCA Dome (situated on Bellerive Pier) and will be no more than 5km. PRESENTER |
